Cardigan
Cardigan, complicit,
we turn him on. He
won’t admit it. But
we know. A slow
sleeve slides hairs
up on his arm as we
pass. Buttoned up
or shrugged undoing
from a warm shoulder.
Cardigan, deceptive
one – demurely fitted,
loose-knitted allure.
No body quite pulls
the lambswool over
his eyes like we do.
Comfort’s purest
purr to unravel his
best intentions, the
things too blushy to
mention. We let in
his hands to explore
unseen, between you
and all of me waiting
for him underneath.
C’est magnifique!
Thank you Lea. It was time for a lighthearted one…
With pleasure Holly.
Mais oui! It was fun and life is flat without it.

Ha! who would’ve k thought
Knitwear is sexy!
Dare I risk another Val Doonican comment? No, probably not …
I can almost feel your smirk as you wrote this Holly, another goodie
Oh dear – Val Doonican! lol. Worrying, most worrying…
’tis a generation thing, m’dear, mention a man in a cardigan to those more, er, mature readers [ahem] and you’ll get VD comments (ROFL, never made the connection between him and an STD before! heh-heh)
Tsk! lol. And there’s me trying to post something a little saucy and cheeky… There’s always one who insists on lowering the tone…
Erm um er ah … phew!
I’ll take that as positive feedback Martin…
I’ll go sit on the naughty stair
Bet you’re just saying that ’cause it’s closer to the wine…
Makes a change from me being the one making the filthy innuendos…! x
How very dare you! heh-heh x
brill as ever , could this be a two piece or a twin set??
Whatever works for the individual… I am currently in a sloppy teal blue number from M&S…. Cosy.
I have a navy blue sloppy jumper shouting Vie la vie ..ha! way too noisy for me really! xx
Great write, Holly! I especially loved this stanza:
“purr to unravel his
best intentions, the
things too blushy to
mention. We let in”
Lusciously inviting!!
Like all the best woollens…
Thank you Angela.
Loved it – no mention of those big old leather buttons though! you know where you are with a sturdy button.
Or even a leather elbow patch, so I’ve heard…
Oh, excellent! What a wonderfully fresh viewpoint. “…demurely fitted, loose knitted allure…” Love it!
Thank you Linda!
Meow phsst!:)
Oh, all of that…

Hope you won’t mind or sigh in despair or blacklist me… because this is supposed to be a celebration rather than an additional burden on you. I’ve nominated you for a Sunshine Award, because your poems always make me smile (or cry).

Of course I won’t mind or sigh or blacklist! This is very, very kind of you to think of me – and I am flattered with this coming from a writer whose work I enjoy so much.

Wonderful and sexy, in a “warm” way! Love the lines below, but all are great, Holly!

Gorgeous! And cardigans are SO alluring.
Hi lady, glad to be here … i knew Rose had something to do with you falling into IAMNOTSHE. hope to catch up with you, and learn your “stuff”.
I get the feeling that Rose has something to do with a lot of good things…!
Thank you for reading.
Ah, well, I s’posed I’m relegated to the Val Doonican of comments … again … but hey! wasn’t the Irish man most popular in his day with his cardigan? Yes, ie YES he was
rofl … an excellent poem by an excellent poet to be sure, to be sure.
Ah, she’s bringing up the Doonican again! lol. Though I was myself brought up on Paddy McGinty’s Goat and suchlike, so I was obviously subliminally influenced when I wrote this poem…
no sort of to this one…being met at the door in a cardigan is a treat indeed…smiles…might have to print this one and leave it laying around to be found….
Oo-er! Well, you know – have fun!
I’ve definitely discovered there are many knitwear lovers out there since I posted this… Not, personally I mean, simply by the responses! lol
I remember visiting my brother one time years ago, and we were getting ready to hit the town. He threw me this cardigaan and said, “Where this.” I laughed and said, “Not in your wildest dreams, bro.” He talked me into it. I was so glad he did!
